There are plenty of ways for a leader to gain the people’s trust, and Johor’s MB does it by constantly going out for field visits to identify ongoing problems while looking for solutions.
Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi has been receiving praise recently, especially after his surprise visits to the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) complex in Johor Bharu. This time, Hafiz took the opportunity to visit an old flats in Taman Tun Aminah in JB to check on its condition.
While the old building is still standing, he couldn’t deny the number of issues that he addressed in a TikTok clip.
The flat is about 40 years old and it shelters 4,089 residents. The age of the building explains why the residents in the place are dealing with poor electrical wiring and plumbing system on a daily basis. As if the heatwave is not bad enough, the water access which may be affected by the plumbing system is making things worse and tougher for the residents.
In the video, Hafiz is seen speaking to a child, who is also a resident of the flat and they both discussed about the ongoing situation of the flat. He was also disappointed to see the cleanliness there after plastic bags were spotted in the drain.
The flat has been categorised as a decrepit flat in the state, and the Sultan of Johor had also voiced out his disappointment towards the condition. 2 weeks ago, it was reported that the Sultan of Johor had asked the state government to intervene and take necessary steps to improve the condition of the flat.
In the meantime, he also reminded residents to take responsibility by taking good care of the place in terms of cleanliness.
“Good job Hafiz, but it’s their responsibility too”
On the other hand, Hafiz continues to get praise from netizens for his effort to mingle around with the people while looking out for solutions to help them. Other netizens took the opportunity and pointed out that it is also the residents’ responsibility to take care of the place.
“I was born here and I stayed here till I was 10. A lot of foreigners rent this place and the condition has since deteriorated.”
“This is their issue. If the residents themselves can’t even maintain the cleanliness, what else can we do?”
“I love this MB. Can’t wait to go back to Malaysia, and hopefully, Johor will prosper under his leadership.”
“Beloved leader of UMNO and BN, Johor’s favourite.”
“In my opinion, the residents there have to take responsibility together and maintain the cleanliness.”
#MajuJohor #BangsaJohor #JohorSelamat #JohorBersih #XtifJohor
We’re glad to see the efforts given to at least understand the hardships that the people in the state are going through. To all the Johoreans out there, what do you think of this?
