A childcare centre nanny has been arrested for 4 days to assist in the investigation of a case of the roughhousing of 2 babies at the private nursery in Mutiara Rini, Johor Bahru.
According to a report by Astro Awani, the 21-year-old woman was remanded from today until May 19 (Friday) after permission was given by Magistrate R. Salini at the Johor Bahru Magistrate’s Court this morning (May 16).
Johor Police Chief, Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat shared that the woman was arrested in Bandar Selesa Jaya, Skudai at 2am today.
The result of an earlier investigation found that the roughhousing incident took place at a nursery in the Mutiara Rini area. The victims are an 11-month-old girl and a 9-month-old boy.
It has also been reported that the nursery did not registered their operations under the Department of Social Welfare (JKM)
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has since informed that JKM has closed down the nursery.
This case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001.
Yesterday, videos of the incident had gone viral on social media, where a local woman could be seen abusing 2 babies by aggressively grabbing at the babies’ heads and blowing at their faces as they cried.
