Khairul Aming’s restaurant ‘Rembayung’ has yet to officially open, but Malaysians are already bombarding its Google Reviews with negative comments, and some even claim the place is haunted.
Dr Rozaimi Ramle, a Malaysian Muslim preacher, has since addressed the negative reviews and urged others to stop, as it is haram or forbidden in Islam.

Making a false review without even trying the product is haram
Dr Rozaimi, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin International Islamic University (UniSIRAJ), stated that these actions are not only sinful but could also unfairly damage the image and livelihood of others.
“Recently, social media users gave 1 star to a restaurant owned by Khairul Aming, even though the premises had not even opened. This is clearly a fake review. It is haram.”
“False testimony or false words are among the major sins mentioned by the Prophet Muhammad in the hadith. It seems small, but its impact is significant,” Dr Rozaimi explained in his Facebook post.

He also criticised the attitude of a few social media users who deliberately left negative ratings simply because they had different political views or wanted to boycott certain traders.
He said that reviews should be given honestly after receiving services, not just based on emotions or certain movements that can slander and oppress others.
“Please know that this is haram. Don’t oppress others,” Dr Rozaimi said.
