As a public figure, does your outfit matter?
Leona, Malaysian influencer and the daughter of local actor Azhar Sulaiman recently addressed an issue in a podcast, Apa Cerita? where she spoke about the criticisms towards her outfits, which have been deemed sexy at times.
“Care about the people around you, not me”
In the podcast, Leona assured the public that while she’s thankful for the caring words, she reminded netizens to care about the people around them instead, and not her.
“Please don’t care about what other people wear, it’s really none of your business. At the end of the day, it’s between me and God.”
As a reminder, Leona added another reminder and said, “You’re not God, so I don’t have anything to prove to you.”
Leona also said that her family, especially her parents have been supportive of her all these while and her appearance has never been an issue at home. Her mum, however, does remind her from time to time about oversharing on social media, to which Leona happily listened and kept in mind.
In the meantime, the 22-year-old influencer also had something to say about Malaysian netizens – many of them are entitled.
“Sometimes, they demand an explanation for everything, including why someone is dressed the way they are. Are you God?”
Leona said that she understood that some people feel compelled and responsible to remind her.
“You can’t be mad if I don’t listen to you, but I’m not totally ignorant about my religion,” Leona said.

What do you think of Leona’s take on this? Do Malaysian netizens care too much about irrelevant matters?
