Netizens are discussing the possibility of ‘time travel’ after a travel influencer claimed that Singapore is a “city in Malaysia”.
Over the past week, a screenshot of the Canadian travel influencer‘s article was posted on r/Malaysia subreddit.
“Singapore is a weird one as it’s a city but also a state/island. You’ll find it right at the bottom of Malaysia, standing proud on its own,” the article says.
“Still, it’s one of the most beautiful cities in Malaysia that you must visit if you’re in this part of the world.”
(This part of the article seems to have been removed.)
If you’ve forgotten Malaysian history, Singapore separated from Malaysia in 1965 and became an independent and sovereign state. But Westerners always seem to be getting that fact wrong although a simple Google search can give you the answer.
Redditors of course did not hesitate to roast the influencer for the statement.
Time traveller, perhaps?
And, of course, they have to bring up our ongoing dispute about food.

All jokes aside, we really do miss travelling in and out of Singapore (or anywhere else for that matter), though. What are some of your favourite memories about Singapore?
