A man in Thailand slapped a nurse on the head at Rayong Hospital after she didn’t let his child into the hospital ward to see her grandma.

The incident blew up after Thailand’s vice-minister Thanakrit Jitareerat for public health reshared a video on his Facebook page showing the moment the man slapped the nurse.

The nurse denied them entry due to health risks

Rayong Hospital wants legal action against the man who slapped the nurse twice after she refused to let his daughter enter the ICU, where her sick grandmother was being treated, according to Bangkok Post.

The nurse explained that letting the child in would put her at risk of infection since the grandma had influenza A.

In a security camera video, the man, wearing an orange T-shirt and shorts, was seen talking to the nurses before suddenly slapping one of them twice. He even tried a third time but missed.

The incident happened on February 16 at around 6:30 pm.

The hospital gave the police the CCTV footage

Dr. Surawit Sakdanupap, a senior health official, said that as soon as they found out about the incident, a meeting was held with the staff involved and the hospital management.

The hospital released a statement on February 18, saying they had already reported the case to Muang Rayong police and would make sure the attacker faced legal action.

Police said the man later turned himself in and admitted to attacking the nurse. He claimed the nurse had spoken rudely to him and his daughter.
