Local heroes like Uncle Kentang deserve all the good in this world. Yet, there are still some people who choose to take advantage of this generous man’s kindness.
It’s not a pleasant feeling when you find out that a gift you gave someone has been broken, especially when you spent a significant amount of money on it.
Kuan Chee Heng, or more popularly known as Uncle Kentang, has dedicated his life to helping the needy and being there for those who need financial aid. He even went to the extent of getting a car for someone, only to find out that the car was wrecked after seemingly getting into an accident.
Not only that, Uncle Kentang shared that he has to cover the repair cost of the car, although netizens are suggesting that the person responsible for the damage should be the one paying for it.
In a Facebook post, Uncle Kentang shared an image of the damaged car along with the caption,
“It’s difficult like this. We give car, but the car gets wrecked. And we become the ‘victims’ who have to repair it. But I am still patient.”
Netizens responded to his post, with many saying that he shouldn’t have to pay for the repairs as it is not his responsibility.
- “Uncle, please don’t allow people to take advantage of your kindness and good intentions…you need to draw the line somewhere.”
- “He should be the one responsible for the cause. The car has already been given, so the repairs should also be theirs. Accident or not, it should be their own responsibility.”
- “Uncle, even though you have a noble heart to help people with difficulties, the person needs to also learn to take responsibility even though you are helping to repair the car. That way this person will learn to take accountability and change his/her life for the better.”
- “It’s best to let him have a sense of responsibility. Let him fix it himself, uncle. Otherwise, he will always feel like he will be helped and continue to take advantage of the good of people. As if he doesn’t know the meaning of gratitude.”
Thank you Uncle Kentang for your kindness and generosity to so many people out there. We hope no one takes your good heart for granted.
