A foreign tourist is sharing his disappointment in Malaysia after he was allegedly disallowed entry to an apartment unit he had booked by security guards whom he accused of discrimination.
The tourist, who is one part of an influencer family, The Mwitis, took to their social media pages to explain how security guards had denied him and his family entry into the apartment building for about 2 hours just after they had arrived from the airport during a recent trip to Malaysia.

He wrote, “I had higher hopes for Malaysia.”
He was on the verge of crying
In his video, he explained that he and his family had taken about an hour to travel from the airport to the apartment building where he had rented a unit.
However, the security guards allegedly didn’t even allow him past the gate.
“It was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived at the gate, the guards at the gate were like, ‘No, you’re not staying here‘. We were at the guardhouse, just chilling at the gate with Amaya and Remi (his 2 children), for about 2 hours after we had already travelled for about an hour from the airport to the apartment,”
“To be honest, that was the worst experience ever. Being with my children and thinking, are you actually kidding me?”

The guards allegedly also questioned him profusely, asking questions like, “Have you paid for this (apartment)?”, “How much did you pay for it?” and, “Are you sure you’re meant to be here?”.
While doing his level best to maintain his composure, he decided to contact the host of his apartment booking.
“I was trying to keep my cool, and was trying to call the (host) and ask ‘is this the place where she’s staying?‘. Like, I’m actually even questioning myself, looking at Amber (his wife) like, ‘I’m so sorry for putting you through this‘,” he said, adding that he was on the verge of crying.
He finally gained access to the apartment
He then managed to get a hold of the host, who then guided him to a lockbox with a key to the apartment.
Upon retrieving the key, the security guards apparently only asked them to show their passports before allowing them into the apartment building. They allegedly also didn’t apologise, leaving the tourist with a bad perception of Malaysia.

“If this is Malaysia, just get me out of here. You know? If this is how the people are going to be, I really don’t want to be here. If you’re black, you know how difficult it sometimes can be just from being profiled,”
“Just being judged without any sort of merit behind it. So yeah, I was just disgusted by that. From that point on, I’ve just been trying to find positivity everywhere I go,” he shared.
He ended his video by clarifying that the incident didn’t sum up his entire experience in Malaysia, as it “hasn’t been all bad” due to “good people along the way”.
