Everyone knows that losing weight is not easy– it’s not just exercise.

If we get into the intricacies of things, there are a bunch of considerations such as how much one should eat, the types of exercises one should be doing, how long to do those exercises and much more.

However, if we spend too much time thinking about the details, we risk not doing anything at all.

Fairuz Yusoff knows this the best. In a recent viral TikTok video, Fairuz shared his inspiring weight loss journey.

In 2020, at the height of his weight gain, Fairuz thought he had to do something before it was too late.

Without thinking much, he bought a treadmill to begin his weight loss journey.

The 1.5 year journey

Although he was ambitious, he was also patient, consistent and disciplined.

Fairuz started just by walking, indoors and outdoors, because that was all he could do.

“A tip if you are big; don’t run. Your knees will hurt. You’ll get tired quickly and feel fed-up,” advised Fairuz.

“The most important thing is to be consistent. Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day.”

After walking daily for at least 30 minutes, his fitness improved, and he then started running.

“My weight went down, and the speed came naturally,” he said.

Besides exercise, Fairuz also incorporated a healthier diet into his lifestyle.

He practised the Quarter Quarter Half concept, a single-meal intake guide that “divides” one’s plate in the following manner:

  • ¼ plate grains or grain products, preferably whole grains such as brown rice or wholemeal bread,
  • ¼ plate of fish or, poultry, meat, or egg,
  • ½ plate of fruits and vegetables.

This method helps individuals determine whether their meal is balanced or not.

Finally, in 2022, after one and a half years of consistent exercising and healthy eating, his hard work and dedication paid off.

Fairuz has lost 48kg and looks much fitter and happier!

We are so happy for Fairuz and hope that he will continue his fitness journey.
