PKR Deputy President, Nurul Izzah Anwar, has pledged to assist a family with legal representation after they were sued by a “celebrity ustaz” following a police report lodged against him. The man is alleged to have committed sexual misconduct involving a child from the family.
In a post shared on her official Facebook account, Nurul Izzah stated that the child’s family, from the B40 income group, filed a police report after the man allegedly committed the immoral act in a hotel.

The former Permatang Pauh MP said what was even more shocking was that several police reports had already been filed against the same individual prior to this incident, yet no action had been taken.
“Why was no action taken since the first report? Why is this perpetrator still free and continuing to use the title ‘ustaz’ as a mask for his wrongdoing?”
She said that just days ago, the family was served with a defamation lawsuit worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit. They were asked to issue a public apology through a press release.

For illustration purposes only.
She added, “They are a B40 family. They have almost no savings. The whole family is in tears. They keep asking, why is Allah testing us this severely?”
“But one thing is certain, I will not back down, not even a step. If they want to sue, I will fight. I will bring in a legal team. I will ensure this child is protected and that justice is served, God willing.”
Nurul Izzah further explained that the ustaz had used the child’s interest in nasyid music to persuade them to travel with him. The child, trusting the man as a respected religious figure, followed him without suspicion.
However, that night, the man allegedly committed the act of sexual misconduct, causing the child to panic and reject him. The child locked themselves in a bathroom for five hours before escaping while the man was asleep and called a family member.
“This child once dreamed of becoming a teacher. They wanted to educate and build a better future for society. But now… they are traumatised. They need monthly counseling. They rely on medication. Their academic performance has plummeted.”
