Owning a house and a car or starting a family are all admirable dreams many of us cherish. Lately, though, a wave of unconventional dreams has emerged during PETRONAS’ 50th-anniversary celebration, in line with the PETRONAS Bonanza50 campaign dedicated to helping Malaysians realise extraordinary dreams.

These unconventional dreams have touched and inspired many Malaysians, even moving us to tears! So, get comfortable and grab some tissues as we dive into these heartwarming and extraordinary dreams that challenge traditional ideas and encourage us to pursue what truly matters.

1. Owning a farm

“I dream of owning a farm where I can grow my own crops and donate them to those in need. I also want to inspire others to grow their own produce, raising awareness about preserving mother Earth and reducing carbon emissions.”

2. Taking parents on a pilgrimage to Mecca

“I’ve always dreamed of taking my parents on a pilgrimage to Mecca to show my gratitude for their sacrifices in raising me. Though my dad passed away while I was studying, this loss only fuels my determination to fulfil this dream with my mom.”

3. Helping my student stay in school

“One of my secondary school students is about to drop out because of high medical expenses for a sick family member. It breaks my heart to think of him working at such a young age. I want to help him financially so he can stay in school and pursue his dreams.”

4. Building a home for stray cats

“In my neighbourhood, stray cats sometimes get caught in the rain. Seeing them drenched and shivering breaks my heart. I want to build them a permanent shelter so they’ll always have a safe place to escape the heat and rain.”

5. Taking the world’s longest train ride from KL to Portugal

“My dream is to embark on a solo train ride from Kuala Lumpur to Lagos, Portugal, the world’s longest railway that spans 18,000 kilometres! I’ll proudly let the Jalur Gemilang flutter throughout the trip, celebrating my patriotism and the love for my country that fuels this incredible adventure.”
