With PDRM actively probing the now deviant GISBH cases, some social media users are getting creative with songs related to the organisation.
With the parody songs circulating rampantly online, will social media users get in trouble? According to the minister of communications, Fahmi Fadzil said, at the time being, not yet. But once he receives instructions from the higher-ups, actions will be taken.
“If PDRM instructs us to take down the videos, the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will have to do so.”
In a press conference this evening (September 25), Fahmi said MCMC has yet to receive any official report regarding the matter.
If you’ve been on TikTok a lot recently, you may have developed an earworm from all the parody songs, all thanks to the handiwork of creative netizens.
“I know there’s at least 7 to 8 versions of the parody songs, including choir and rock versions. This shows that Malaysians are creative. So far, for the parody songs that have turned into memes, we have not received any complaints about them,” he said.
Recently, Deputy Minister of Communication, Teo Nie Ching said MCMC is always observing social media when it comes to the spread of GISBH-related parody songs and will be ready to take them down at any time once the ministry receives instructions to do so.
To those who have listened to the parody songs, what do you think of it? Should the content be removed from social media as soon as possible?
