Starting today (August 24), it’s officially Datuk Fan Bingbing. Thanks to her contributions in promoting Melaka as a global tourism destination, the Chinese actress was conferred a Datukship.
Fan Bingbing told the media that she will continue contributing to the state, expressing her hope to “bring more good stories to Melaka.”

She also shared her joy at receiving the prestigious honour, even posing with a kiss on her Datuk medal to show her respect and gratitude. Her next project in Malaysia is expected to begin sooner than anticipated, Fan confirmed she will return in September and assured that promoting Melaka is “something she will definitely do.”
“Of course, I hope to continue promoting Melaka’s tourism industry. I will return in September, there’s a lot of work to be done.”

According to reports by Sin Chew and China Press, Melaka is set to host the 2025 World Tourism Day in September. Additionally, the state will extend its 2024 Tourism Year activities through 2026 to align with Malaysia’s Tourism Year in 2026.
Fan wore a light green traditional Malay outfit, complete with a long silk scarf draped over her head. Before her, other international stars such as Hong Kong action legend Jackie Chan and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan have also received Datukships.
