Heineken recently kicked off its ‘Refresh Your Music, Refresh Your Nights’ campaign in Asia with 2 concerts, 1 in Malaysia and 1 in Vietnam, headlined the world famous electropop duo, The Chainsmokers.
The extravaganza in Vietnam featured their very own talented Thi Minh and Karik, and in Malaysia we were graced with the soulful and brilliant sounds of Yunohoo and NYK!
Both concerts were a major success, where 5,000 music fans at the Malaysian leg showed insane love for both The Chainsmokers and our local artistes.
Held at Resorts World Genting on December 9 (Friday), Yunohoo kicked off the show with her own songs from Kaalam, to Rani. But it was her rendition of The Chainsmokers’ hit song, Don’t Let Me Down, fused with her own distinctive musical style was what really blew our minds!
This was followed by NYK who wowed the crowd with his popular songs such as Daylight and PRETTY BURN before he too showcased his own take on The Chainsmokers’ bop, Something Just Like This.
The Chainsmokers themselves then took to the stage, with fans chanting and cheering their name in anticipation. And they were not disappointed as The Chainsmokers dropped their massive hits including Sick Boy, Paris and Roses, leaving fans breathless by the end of the night from dancing and singing along.
Along for the ride that night with their own sets were DJs Blink, BATE and Julian.
Prior to the concerts, Heineken encouraged fan to break out of their music bubbles, seeking to open their minds to different genres through sharing music from many cultures. In the lead-up to the concerts, fans voted for their favourite refreshed renditions of The Chainsmokers hit songs, created by local artists.
These renditions were adored by fans as they showcased their immense support for their favourite local musicians.
“Through the ‘Refresh Your Music, Refresh Your Nights’ campaign, we wanted to echo Heineken’s belief that life tastes better with an open mind, regardless of social situations or music preferences. The fans’ incredible energy and willingness to break out of their music bubbles affirmed our belief that music does transcend all boundaries,” shared Rajeev Sathyesh, Heineken Brand Director (APAC).
“The evening with The Chainsmokers and our local artists was something never seen before and definitely one for the books,”
“The response we received from Malaysians during the voting phase and at the concert is proof that we are all ready to expand our horizons musically, cultivate new relationships and create new memories worthy of a lifetime,” added Willemijn Sneep, Marketing Director of Heineken Malaysia Berhad.
If you weren’t there, you definitely missed a hell of a night. But fret not, for this may very well be just the beginning of our journey to musical enlightenment.
Stay tuned for more updates!
