Woman Pretends to Faint in an Attempt to Avoid Arrest by Immigration Dept

In an attempt to avoid getting arrested during an Immigration Department operation in Ampang, a woman pretended to faint.

According to the New Straits Times, the Selangor Immigration Department carried out the operation, codenamed Ops Kutip, at the Ampang Point Shopping Centre.

Selangor Immigration Department director Khairrul Aminus Kamaruddin said during the operation, some foreigners acted aggressively towards officers who were trying to detain them.

“Some others tried making excuses to avoid arrest and there were individuals who pretended to faint to avoid being detained.”

The operation, conducted at 7:30 pm, involved 35 officers from the Selangor Immigration Department and the Port Klang branch. 141 individuals were screened, and 53 people aged between 14 and 65 were detained.

Khairrul Aminus said among those detained were Indonesians (three men and 11 women), Afghans (eight men and three women) and Bangladeshis (four men and two women).

Others included nationals from India, Nepal, Australia, Philippines, Myanmar, Sweden, Tanzania, Morocco, Somalia, Nigeria and Pakistan.
