In a viral video, the dashcam footage shows the flash flood in Kota Damansara around the Persiaran Surian area. The heavy downpour had not only caused severe traffic congestion, but 5 cars were also trapped in the flood.

Assistant Director of the Selangor Fire & Rescue Department, Ahmad Mukhriz Mukhtar said in a statement that his department received a report about the matter at around 8:09 AM. 2 fire trucks with 8 firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene to help ease congestion, and assist victims who were trapped in the flood.

As of 10 AM, Mukhriz said the flood water in the area has started to recede. Fortunately, no deaths or injuries were reported.

If you’re frequently on the road, it is advisable to keep tabs on METMalaysia’s social media accounts to get the latest weather forecasts. In the latest update via its Facebook page, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to continue today until 1 PM in certain areas in Selangor and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

With the flash flood expected to happen at any time, do plan your journey ahead and be safe on the road.
