Being separated from your family at a young age can be a painful thing, but miracles can happen, for who knows, years later you may reunite.
For Li Jian, a 33-year-old man from Shanxi, China, it took him 30 years before he managed to be reunited with his birth family.
According to The Beijing News, his elder sister had said that he was last seen riding his tricycle outside their home in 1989. He was only 3-years-old.
Li was then adopted by his adoptive family after they saw him at a police station, renaming his surname to Chen.
His birth family, on the other hand, refused to give up on their search, utilising every medium the passing years gave them, including TikTok, in hopes that he would see their missing person advertisement and contact them.
Broken over the fact that there was no news for almost 30 years, Li’s birth father, who blamed himself for his disappearance, drank himself to death. Before he passed, he urged his wife to never give up hope and continue looking.
Come June 2019, a police station in Changzhi in the province of Shanxi discovered that Li’s DNA matched the DNA of his birth parents in the police database, prompting them to arrange for the long-awaited reunion.
Upon reuniting with his birth mother, the family could barely hold back their emotions and not a single eye remained dry.
His birth family was also thankful for his adoptive family for bringing him up and looking after him.
His story may have seem to be a sad one, it ended up becoming bittersweet considering he never got to reunite with his birth father – but now he has two families to call home.
We hope the best for Li and are happy he finally found his true parentage.
