Taking to social media, a tourist shared his frustrating experience after being scammed by illegal photographers near KLCC, ultimately spending a fortune to resolve the situation.
For those familiar with the area, this isn’t a new issue. Many have reportedly fallen prey to individuals who exploit tourists seeking memorable photos at the iconic location.
One netizen recounted his ordeal, which escalated into a physical fight that was shared in this post.

“For anyone visiting KLCC, if someone offers to take your photo for RM5, please don’t fall for it.”
“I was offered RM5 for two pictures, so I agreed. But the scammer ended up taking 18 photos. I paid, but he didn’t send them to my WhatsApp.”
“When I asked why, he demanded another RM20. I paid again, and he sent the photos only to delete them shortly after,” they shared.

“Then he asked for money for drinks. I asked him, ‘How much more do you want?’”
The situation escalated when the tourist threatened to report the scammer, which led to a physical confrontation.
“My advice to anyone wanting a photo here: use your own camera.”
In the comments section, netizens expressed outrage over the incident.
“Ban these people from doing business here. It’s 2025, everyone knows how to take their own pictures.”
“Where are the enforcement officers? This kind of activity tarnishes KL’s image internationally,” commented another user.
