If you’re staying in or nearby Klang, chances are you’ve noticed the presence of haze in the city because you just can’t stop sneezing as soon as you step outdoors.
You can no longer take a deep breath in the morning as the fresh air is now polluted with haze. It was reported that as of 4am today (14 August), the air pollution index of Klang has already reached 60 and by 8am, the index rose to 65.
What does the index mean?
For your information, the air pollution level is measured based on the Air Pollution Index, which can be broken down into five different levels:
- Good – API of 0-50
- Moderate – API of 51- 100
- Unhealthy – API of 101- 200
- Very unhealthy – API of 201- 300
- Hazardous – API of 301 and above

Here are a few useful tips for staying healthy this haze season;
- Use an N95 respiratory mask to filter out airborne particles as surgical masks won’t help much in this situation
- Wash your hands and face upon reaching home as your skin may be carrying haze particles
- Minimise outdoor activities and refrain from playing outdoor sports
- As usual, keep yourselves hydrated by drinking more water
