Yesterday, in conjunction with the ‘National Take The Stairs Day’, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh took up the challenge by running up 18 floors to the rooftop of Menara KBS, Putrajaya.
The 44-year-old minister made an impressive run as she completed the challenge in less than 6 minutes from the ground floor all the way up to the rooftop.
She was accompanied by Malaysia’s world’s number one tower runner Soh Wai Ching and Malaysia Towerrunning Association (MTA) president Ravinder Singh.
In a post shared by Yeoh, she shared how she had undergone a tower-running workshop with Soh who appeared to have guided Yeoh through the challenge.
In a statement released by the MTA, Yeoh was quoted as saying, “It’s actually doable.”
Meanwhile, Ravinder in the same statement said that hoped that tower run will be featured in the 2027 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.
“We are looking forward to having stairs sessions starting from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and eventually to other ministries in Putrajaya and to the corporate offices in Malaysia,“ he added.
So fit!
Yeoh’s feat has not gone unnoticed as plenty of Malaysians praised her for keeping fit and for successfully completing the challenge.
“This is why we need a Sports Minister who is young and fit. If they are old, they wouldn’t want to do activities like these.”
“By being the minister, you might become the athlete yourself,” commented a user.
Another commented, “This is what practice what you preach looks like. Encouraging people to use the stairs, and the minister herself raced up the stairs.”
Kudos to Hannah Yeoh for being smashing the challenge! We hope to see more of such challenges in the future.
