Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh recently officiated the launch of the Youth Capsule (Y-Capsule) at the International Youth Centre (IYCResidence) in Cheras, which provides affordable accommodation for youths and job seekers in the city.
Taking to her Facebook page, Yeoh said that the initiative is aimed at providing affordable accommodation to youths, especially those who just moved to the city and are seeking employment.
The Youth and Sports Minister added that the Y-Capsule hostel offers accommodation at a “RAHMAH” price of only RM10 per day.
She further elaborated that IYCResidence had prepared 5 dormitories with 54 beds and full facilities for the initiative. The facilities include cooking, self-service laundry and internet access.
In order to be eligible to stay at Y-Capsule, you must fulfil these criteria:
- A Malaysian citizen
- Aged 18 to 40
- Must be either a jobseeker, employed but has no accommodation or currently undergoing internship/industrial training
Y-Capsule will be available to use starting this 15 September and with the initiative, Yeoh hoped that more youths would be encouraged to find employment in the city, particularly those from rural areas. She also urged government agencies to create similar facilities for young people.
