Cinemas in Malaysia are set to reopen tomorrow (9 September) for fully vaccinated individuals, but Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has announced that they will need a little more time.

GSC posted an update today (8 September) to announce that they will NOT be opening on 9 September as they are preparing proper standard operating procedures (SOP) from the government and to ensure that they have enough content to show.

They also added that studios are rushing to get the content ready.

“We are currently awaiting full, proper SOPs from the government for the reopening of cinemas,” they wrote in a statement.

“Additionally, a selection of films are also undergoing censorship review. We will keep you all updated on reopening, so stay tuned for announcements!”

GSC also said that those who are looking forward to watching Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be able to soon!

Stay tuned for more updates!
