Gamble, once in a while, can be fun with the adrenaline that “fuels” you to try your luck after each attempt. People in Perlis, however, may not stand the chance to visit gambling premises anymore.
The state is officially free from gambling premises, as revealed by the Chairman of the Perlis Housing, Local Government, Human Resource Development and Poverty Alleviation Committee. Asrul Aimran Abd Jalil revealed that the very last gambling premise in the state was closed down on Wednesday (March 6).
“We have succeeded in realizing the agenda of zero gambling premises in Perlis,” he said in a statement shared on his Facebook.
Previously there were six gambling premises with 4 of them closed last year. The 5th one was closed back in January before the last one recently.
More harm than good
Asrul also said that the state government realised that gambling brings more harm than good.
“This explains the decision to stop gambling premises licenses. We want to ensure people of various religions and races in Perlis can live safely and prosperously.”
Asrul added that the state government will continue to work with the authorities and relevant agencies to put an end to gambling-related activities.
The public is also more than welcome to join the state government in battling gambling-related issues.
