The worst thing about being stuck in traffic is not only the longer time taken to your destination but also when nature calls, and it’s worse when the nearest restroom is miles and miles away.

For illustration purposes only

The recent long weekend due to the Raya Haji celebration has prompted many families to go on vacation and heavy traffic was no surprise. However, the traffic build-up seemed to be worse this time. A family in Terengganu decided to help those stuck in traffic, and they did so by welcoming them into their house. Yes, we’re not joking.

Of course, the family didn’t organise an open house or a feast but they “lent” their toilet to anyone who needed to use the facility. And they did it for FREE! A Malaysian woman, Nik Norkatijah shared this incident via her Facebook, which happened on Saturday night (1 July). The family really convinced others that the toilet in their house was, at the time, open to the public by putting on a smiley emoji on a cardboard that says,

“Tandas FREE (Free toilet).”

It must have been a HUGE relief to those who needed the toilet break.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Katijah said that she was on the way back from Kuala Besut to Kuala Terengganu, which, on a normal traffic day, would’ve taken her only 90 minutes.

“But the traffic was really bad that night. It was barely moving, and it took us 6 hours to reach Kuala Terengganu.”

She explained that she started her journey from Kuala Besut at 5 pm and only reached her destination at 11 pm.

Katijah also told WORLD OF BUZZ that she followed the route that Waze suggested and when she passed by the house, many drivers dropped by to use the toilet, thanks to the generous family.

“It was also drizzling at the time,” Katijah said.

It was a small gesture but we’re sure that the family’s kind gesture helped many drivers to destress for a little before they continued their journey back home. To those who were stuck in the traffic too during the weekend, how long did it take you to reach home?
