Breaking a world record could seem like a far-fetched dream for many people, but this Malaysian man has shown us that once you put your mind to it, you can achieve it!
Several days ago, formal national cricket player, Harinder Sekhon revealed that he has successfully broken the world record for the highest seated jump! According to Harinder, the previous seated jump record was held by Victor Hubbard from USA at 1.48meters.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Harinder mentioned that prior to breaking the world record, he had undergone 9-10 months of strict training and diet.
“I didn’t have a coach, so I trained myself and learned a lot online. Everything was through trial and error, thankfully I managed to find a routine that works for me, so I just stuck by it,” he added.
Now, if you’re wondering how he trained for this big achievement, here’s how he did it:
- Leg days for 3-4 days in a week at the gym. This includes weighted exercises and explosive plyo/jumping, exercises. (He works in Maz International school Shah Alam and they’ve been very accommodating by letting him convert half of the gym into his personal gym.),
- He goes to the track once a week to train his speed and jumping,
- His diet mainly consists of only homecooked food that’s prepared very cleanly,
- He hasn’t had a cheat meal, soft drinks, or fast food since he started his intensive training.
Following his strict exercises and diet, Harinder managed to break the world record and set it at 1.52 metres. When asked if he has any advice to give Malaysians who aspire to break any world records he said,
“Always believe in yourself especially when you encounter tough days. Hardwork, dedication and discipline are key factors to my training regime.”
But most importantly, you should always enjoy what you’re doing and be happy with whatever progress you’ve made.
He then ended the interview by mentioning that he is “very grateful for his sponsors” and thanked them for believing in him.

Keep up the good work Harinder! Thank you for carving Malaysia’s name in the world records, we’re all so proud of you.
