A student at a Penang secondary school fell to her death yesterday evening (November 18) around 4:45 PM. She was only 14.
The school’s management immediately contacted the hospital before the female student was quickly sent to the hospital in an ambulance. Unfortunately, the student succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead at 5:30 PM.
This is the third case involving students falling from a school building in the past two months alone. The first one took place in Kuala Lumpur in October, involving a Form 1 Student, and the second one took place on November 7 in Seremban, in which the victim was a 16-year-old student.
According to reports by China Press and Sin Chew Daily, the parents lodged a police report about the matter after receiving the news, and the school’s management has denied entry to everyone except the authorities. The victim’s relatives were also spotted outside the hospital, but they were not willing to speak to the media or disclose any details.
At around 7 PM of the same night, PDRM also deployed a team to the scene and has since cordoned off the area to launch an investigation of the death.
As of the time of writing (November 19), both PDRM and the school have yet to release a statement about the matter.
Our thoughts and prayers go to the family members of the victims.
