Taking to TikTok, food influencer AkieJack shared a satirical video of himself ‘unboxing’ a store-bought chicken bun, claiming it contained a full drumstick.
The video, which has garnered over 500,000 views, shows him opening the curry bun, removing it from the packaging, and revealing the filling, an act that, according to some viewers, misled them into believing that these curry buns actually contain a whole drumstick.
Netizens were unimpressed and voiced their opinions across various social media platforms.
“Please stop posting videos like this. Not everyone on social media can tell if the content is real or fake.”
“I’ve lost interest in your reviews since the strawberry bread incident. I didn’t buy it, but your review led many others to and they were duped into thinking it had real strawberries. Don’t normalise silly reviews like this,” said a user.
To put things into perspective, AkieJack is known for inserting real ingredients into flavoured baked goods as part of his content such as putting corn in corn-flavored bread, durian in durian buns, and more.
Should this be considered just entertainment? Or are people becoming too sensitive to this kind of content? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
