According to netizens on Threads, several areas, especially in Melaka Tengah, have been hit by flash floods following heavy rainfall.

One of the earliest to report the incident was user @arif_ayob88, who shared a video of the flooding on social media early Saturday morning.

Drawing from a local news site, other users have also posted their own videos on social media. The original video did not provide specific details regarding the exact locations or areas affected.

So far, the flood has impacted areas such as Jejantas Tun Teja, Tengkera, Kota Laksamana, Jalan Ong Kim Wee, Kampung Chetti, Limbongan, Dataran Pahlawan, and several others within the Melaka Tengah district.

As holidaymakers arrive in Melaka for the Malaysia Day weekend, many have been advised by locals to reconsider their travel plans, especially to flood-affected areas.

Here are some comments from locals:

“Kota Syahbandar and Kota Laksamana are like the Melaka River now. It’s flooded, and I’m stuck here.”

“I planned to take the day off from my kitchen duties. As I got into my car, it started pouring. We’re now in Tengkera, and the shops are flooded. We turned back and restarted our kitchen operations,” said a user.

Another commented, “For those planning a holiday in Melaka—forget it. You might as well turn back.”

Are you planning a trip to Melaka this weekend? It might be wise to have a Plan B.
