Despite not being talked about as much as the upcoming GE15, flash floods in Klang Valley and the other states are also among the concerns of many Malaysians, especially those who stay in flood-prone areas.
Election day has yet to come but the nightmare has already come true. Early this morning (November 17), parts of Klang and Shah Alam has been hit by a flash flood, yet again, following the continuous rain last night (November 16), which started around 10 pm.
According to New Straits Times, these are the areas in Klang,
- Taman Sentosa
- Kota Raja
- Taman Sri Andalas
- Taman Chi Leung
- GM Klang
Meanwhile, Shah Alam folks in these areas are also victim of the flash flood,
- Padang Jawa
- Section 13
- Section 22
- Taman Sri Muda
- I-City
- Bukit Lanchong
As of 8:40 am this morning, the water level of the river on Federal Highway has also risen to a concerning level. A resident of Puri Aiyu Condominium reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ and provided an image of the Damansara River, which faces the condominium where she is staying in.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user, Izwan, also shared an image of the river on the Federal Highway at 9:08 am.

Late last year, Federal Highway made headlines when the water level of Damansara River rose significantly and led to a flood on the highway, causing many users stranded on the road.
The Facebook page Seremban Page also shared a video of the flood that affected the residents in Padang Jawa, Shah Alam this morning.

Unfortunately, the flash floods are not only happening in parts of Klang and Shah Alam. Several districts are also affected by the disaster following the continuous downpour last night. You can check out the images and videos below.
As of this morning, some roads in the Sepang District have been closed due to the flood.
Meanwhile, Jalan Mantin – Seremban is temporarily closed due to a landslide. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

In Seremban, the flood affected a mosque in Kg Bukit Jong Ulu Temiang.
At 9am, The Department of Irrigation and Drainage reported via its website and revealed that 9 rivers in Selangor have exceeded the dangerous level. You can refer to the images below to see the affected rivers.
At the time of writing, the rain has stopped in most of the areas. However, since it’s the monsoon season and rainfall is expected to continue, it’s best to prepare for the worst. To the drivers out there, do be careful on the road.
