A taxi passenger in Hong Kong berated the driver after the latter refused to speed through a yellow light, as requested.
In a viral dashcam video, the passenger can be seen and heard urging the driver to run the yellow light, believing they could make it before it turned red. However, the driver prioritised safety and stopped the vehicle as the light changed, contrary to the passenger’s demand.
The driver calmly explained his decision, emphasising safety, but the passenger reacted angrily and used vulgar language.

“F*ck you. You could’ve sped through the yellow light, but you’re telling me there wasn’t enough time?”
The passenger continued to insist that the light had not yet turned red and accused the driver of being rude for explaining the situation.
“Why do you keep talking back to me? If you’re unhappy, just say so.”
The driver denied being upset and said there was no reason to get angry over such a minor issue. Despite his calm demeanor, the passenger kept berating him, accusing him of being disrespectful for not complying with his demand.

The driver also explained that he stopped in case a pedestrian was crossing the street. Unfortunately, this only escalated the situation.
“Who would be crossing the street?! Why are you talking back?!”
The passenger eventually disembarked at his destination and paid for his fare, but not before he repeatedly asked the driver, “Why were you talking back?”
