The driver of a Toyota Vellfire Multi-purpose Vehicle (MPV) ran a red light yesterday morning (January 8) in Ipoh and the woman’s action caused a Malaysian father to lose both his children in an instant.
The victims, 22-year-old Nur Amira Balqis Armi and 15-year-old Tsa Muhammad Armirul, were on a motorcycle during the accident. Both were reported to have died at the scene.
The teenager was on his way to school during the incident which took place at 10:35 AM at a traffic light in Jalan Pasir Putih, Ipoh.
In an official statement by Perak PDRM, Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that the Vellfire was driven by a 38-year-old woman. She was headed to Ipoh Garden from her house.
The driver allegedly ran a red light
“When she arrived at the traffic light intersection, the light was said to have turned red but she continued driving. At the same time, a motorcycle ridden by the two siblings came from the other direction and hit the MPV.”
Both siblings suffered serious injuries and died at the scene while the MPV driver was unharmed.
Ipoh Member of Parliament, Howard Lee was also at the scene to understand the situation. In his Facebook post, Howard said that he would personally help with the funeral of the siblings to ease the burden of the grieving family.
A report by the New Straits Times also revealed that the siblings’ father, Armi Mustafa, 59, said that he got a call from the police to go to the scene without telling him what happened.
Despite the heartbreaking discovery at the scene, Armi accepted the fate and said,
“I lost my son and daughter in an instant. But I must accept God’s will and His tests,” he said at the Forensic Unit of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here today.
The man also said his wife passed away 8 months after giving birth to Amirul.
