Angered by a vehicle changing lanes without signalling and cutting off his SUV, a 60-year-old man displayed an object resembling a gun out of his window at Kilometre E37 of the East-West Link Expressway in Kuala Lumpur.
A video of the incident has since gone viral, which eventually led to the driver’s arrest.

An elderly man was arrested after brandishing a toy gun on the road
Harian Metro quoted Brickfields District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chan Hook as saying that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) received a report from a police officer who spotted a 34-second video of the incident.
“The driver of the SUV was found to have opened the car window and pointed an object resembling a pistol,” he stated, further revealing that the man was successfully tracked down and arrested just 3 hours after the police report was made.
“The man admitted that he was the individual who was driving and pointing the object, which was a toy pistol, in the video. The suspect is unemployed, and a check found that he has 5 criminal records,” he added.
Hoo said that the suspect claimed that a car tried to overtake his vehicle and swerved into the left lane without signalling, causing him to become dissatisfied and overtake the car again.
“At that time, the driver of the car, who was also a man, rolled down his window and got angry. The suspect then rolled down his window, showed him a toy gun and drove away,” the Brickfields District Police Chief shared.

The authorities ended up seizing 2 toy guns and the man’s SUV, with the case being investigated under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960.
