It has been almost two years since we were struck with the Covid-19 pandemic. To date, despite the ongoing vaccination process, the world shows no signs of being completely free from the virus ever since its first emergence in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Between now and then, conspiracy theories about this pandemic have also surfaced online and have kept us wondering.
Recently, an old post on Facebook from last year has been recirculating on the platform. The post shares another prediction of the Covid-19 pandemic which was found in a Buddhist booklet, published in 1992!
While the book does not specifically mention the Covid-19 virus, the term “The New Pneumonia” eerily captures all the signs and symptoms as reported by the Covid-19 virus today. The virus is also described as being “more vicious than AIDS”.
As seen below, one of the pages, clearly illustrates how the virus easily spreads through daily habits such as handshaking and close range conversations!
Today, in this pandemic, these are the exact habits we’re told to strictly avoid by practising ‘social distancing’.
Coincidence?
According to a source, this booklet was originally a talk that was available on the Gold Wheel Sagely Monastery website in the early 2000s but was later taken down for reasons unknown. Years later, the same talk was published in Buddhist booklets that were seen distributed in Singapore.
It seems that these were the words of a Buddhist monk which was later transcribed into a book. From a few pages of the booklet, it eerily describes the signs and symptoms of Covid-19 that we’re experiencing today.
“This illness is worse than atomic bombs, it’s a pandemic. The pandemic comes, both men and women will get this disease. Not only that but the newborn will be infected as well. And AIDS too! You see! How scary is this!”
“More than half of the world’s population now already has this virus, so when this disease breaks out, it will flow like the river, and no one can stop it.”
“The number of AIDS and pneumonia in the world now is not less, even the unborn has it and that’s how the virus spreads inside the fetus. Thus, doomsday is coming. And from doomsday, it means everyone dies and disappears together.”
While it has been three decades since the booklet was published, it is certainly eerie to know that these predictions are almost accurate to what we’re experiencing today. We truly hope this pandemic is curbed soon and this prediction certainly does not come true!
