Just yesterday, on 4 October, an 88-year-old woman was found dead after drowning in a large drain in front of her house at Jalan Sanglang, Kampung Pida 12 Lama.
According to Harian Metro, Chief of the Jitra Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Senior Fire Superintendent Noor Azhar Tajudin, said they received a call about the incident at 1:46 PM.
He said a team of nine firefighters from BBP Jitra, led by Senior Fire Officer I Mohamad Hazim Hilman Hamidi, arrived at the scene shortly after.
āThe operations commander reported that the fire engine had difficulty reaching the location due to the narrow access road,ā he said.
āUpon arrival, it was found that an elderly woman, believed to have been missing since the day before, was discovered floating on the surface of the water in a large drain in front of her house by members of the public,ā he added.
āThe team retrieved the victim and handed her over to the police for further action.ā
