An elderly woman was among five individuals rescued by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) after being trapped in a house due to flash floods in Kampung Machang Kudung, Pokok Sena.

“A flash flood occurred at the location due to heavy rain, and it was reported that five victims were trapped inside the house. The victims included an elderly woman, three men, and a teenage girl, estimated to be between 18 and 72 years old.”

“Firefighters assisted in relocating all the victims to a safe location, namely a nearby neighbour’s house. Further monitoring revealed that the water level had receded,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Kubang Pasu District Civil Defence Officer, Captain (PA) Mohd Adenin Suhaimi, said in a statement that a total of 29 houses in Mukim Naga and Malau were affected by floods following heavy rain since 2 PM today.

“The affected houses are located in Kampung Muhibbah, Kampung Paya Tok Teh, Kampung Tengah Malau, and Kampung Kemunting Baru. The total number of victims is still being recorded, however, no temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been opened so far,” he shared.

“The water level in Kampung Muhibbah, Kampung Tengah Malau, and Kampung Kemunting Baru is showing a downward trend, while in Kampung Paya Tok Teh, it is rising. We will advise residents to move to PPS if the situation worsens.”
