Over the last 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic, various prevention and control measures of the disease have been introduced: multiple doses of the vaccine, contact tracing efforts and normalisation of the usage of masks and hand sanitizers.
However, some people are still extremely cautious and that is understandable! It could be that they are being extra careful because they have high risk people such as babies, elderly people or immunosuppressed people at home.
Installing a plastic sheet
Recently, one e-hailing driver went the extra mile to protect himself from potentially contracting the infectious virus.
In a tweet made by Syahin (@syhnbrhm) on her Twitter account, she shares a series of photos of a car she got on that had a transparent sheet of plastic separating the front seats and back seats of the car.
This would not usually be a problem as the driver is only looking out for himself.
However, the only thing allowing air, and consequently air conditioning to flow from the front to the back of the car (and vice versa) was a washing machine pipe.
This meant that Syahin and her baby did not get enough air conditioning and in this sweltering Malaysian heat, the plastic film then became a real problem!
In one of the photos shared, Syahin used a filter that made her face scrunch up in distress to exaggerate her suffering.
Netizens bond over similar experiences
In the replies below the tweet that has gained over 10,000 retweets and 24,000 likes, many netizens share their experience of encountering similar Covid-19 prevention measures.
While most of them were understanding of these drivers’ paranoia and their pimped car interiors, they also acknowledged that it can be frustrating sometimes. Nonetheless, they still managed to find amusement in looking at the other methods other drivers have used.
“He really looks like he got Covid-19 10 times and gave up,” one netizen mused.
“The uncle should’ve done this,” shared one netizen.
One netizen even shared her experience with a driver who installed fans so that the people in the back seat would not be too uncomfortable.
