Celebrity chef Khairul Aming has announced that his restaurant, Rembayung, will operate with revised hours throughout Ramadan to support both staff and diners observing the holy month.
The restaurant, which opened its doors on 6 January, will begin daily operations at 4 PM. However, the establishment will only allow dine-ins from 8 PM onwards, with only takeaway services available prior to that.

Prioritising prayers and staff welfare
As Iftar (breaking fast) typically falls around 7:30 PM, Khairul aims to provide his staff with sufficient time to break their fast and perform their prayers before welcoming dine-in customers.
“The same goes for the customers. We want you to be able to perform Maghrib prayers first, so that you can dine in without a rush,” the celebrity chef explained.
In a new update for the fasting month, customers can also enjoy Sahur (pre-dawn meal) at Rembayung, as the restaurant will remain open until 4 AM.
“Don’t bring your pillows to sleep here,” Khairul joked in his announcement.
No buffet or Ramadan special sets
For those expecting a buffet or a specific Ramadan set menu, Khairul clarified that neither will be available. He explained that as Rembayung is still new, many customers have yet to visit and try the standard menu.
“All dishes will be cooked fresh upon order, not reheated,” he emphasised, ensuring that the quality of the food remains a priority.

Strict reservation rules to combat scalpers
Additionally, Khairul outlined updated reservation terms and conditions to prevent slot reselling and scalping. Each customer is limited to only one booking under the same name.
“If we find the same name for more than one booking, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation,” he warned.
As of now, Ramadan is expected to commence on Thursday (19 February), but Rembayung will only begin its Ramadan operations on Saturday (21 February), as Khairul is granting his employees a short rest before the busy period begins.
