Malaysia hit a new high yesterday (23 November) with 1,884 positive Covid-19 cases. A majority of the cases originated from the Teratai Cluster which involves Top Glove employees in their dormitories.
Despite the inter-district and inter-state travel ban imposed in areas under CMCO, we can still see some Malaysians travelling for various reasons. In his live press conference yesterday, Health DG, Tan Sr Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, pleaded to Malaysians especially those in red zones to not balik kampung unless for emergency purposes for the time being.
He added that the cooperation from the public is highly expected to avoid at-risk groups such as the elderly and those with chronic diseases living in green zones to avoid being infected.
Harian Metro reported that the recommendation is in line with MOH’s efforts from the beginning to protect the risky.
“From the beginning we tried to protect the at-risk group because based on available records, as many as 64 per cent of the deaths involved patients over 60 years old. Another 87 per cent were patients with high blood pressure and diabetes, so it is better not to balik kampung for now.”
“This is because you could be the virus carrier and be spreading the virus without you even knowing,” he said.
We’re all probably sick and tired of being indoors but unfortunately, the battle is far from over. Remember, you staying indoors is not only for you, it’s for our tired frontliners and also those whose lives have been affected by the pandemic. Come on Malaysians, we flattened the curve once and we can definitely do it again!
