A man’s attempt to escape did not bear fruit after the police fired three shots at him to subdue him in Batu Uban, Penang. The incident is said to take place at about 7am today (15 June).
Sin Chew Daily reported that the police had tried to stop the suspect in Kampung Melayu, Ayer Itam but failed and began chasing the suspect who fled the scene.
The suspect, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, then lost control and knocked a disabled man, who was crossing the road, killing the victim in the process, reported China Press.
The police then fired a total of three shots at the 46-year-old suspect, with two hitting the car and one hitting the man’s foot. The suspect, who has various criminal records, was arrested and it was later discovered that he was carrying drugs in his car.
Meanwhile, the victim, who died at the scene, has been taken to the morgue.
