Let’s be real, everybody loves laksa.

But some love laksa soo much that they’ve created a whole, month-long festival for it!

The Darwin International Laksa Festival is set to happen from October 1 to October 31, 2024, in Darwin; Australia, and has been taking place every October for the past 5 years! This year will mark their 6th anniversary.

“The Laksa Festival has grown into one of the most anticipated events on the city’s calendar. Each year, thousands of laksa lovers and enthusiastic foodies from across the nation wander the Territory to indulge in the delicious laksa and laksa-inspired dishes.”

“Laksa inspired-by dishes are culinary creations that take inspiration from the flavours of laksa and apply them to ‘unusual’ dishes. Some dishes in the past have included laksa-flavoured ice cream, bagels, sausages, burgers, cocktails and desserts,” the festival shared on their website.

The Laksa Festival consists of 2 key elements, The Laksa Festival Food Tour and The Laksa Festival Finale!

The Laksa Festival Food Tour happens throughout the entire month, where people are encouraged to visit as many restaurants registered on the tour to try out their dishes and vote for their favourites on the website.

The Laksa Festival Finale, on the other hand, is an extravaganza of all things laksa, where people can take part in food eating competitions and cooking demonstrations, and enjoy entertainment and food trucks. There’s even an award ceremony for the participating restaurants!

Honestly, this festival looks like it’s a whole lot of fun, we’re kinda thinking of booking flights out to Darwin for October!

What do you think about this laksa festival? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
