Bruneians and Singaporeans may be allowed to enter Malaysia without needing permission from immigration authorities.

They will no longer need to do Covid-19 swab tests or subject themselves to the 14-day quarantine period, said Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, in a live press conference today (19th June).

“These countries (Brunei and Singapore) are considered as green zones,” said the Ismail Sabri.

“We have agreed to let Bruneians staying in Brunei and Singaporeans staying in Singapore to enter our country without needing to ask permission from immigration. They will not be subjected to Covid-19 tests or the quarantine period,” added the minister.

However, he stressed that in order for everything to be finalised, there needs to be a similar agreement from authorities of both these countries to allow Malaysian residents to cross borders under similar conditions.

We need the same regulations to apply for Malaysians who need to enter their borders. We’re still in the negotiation process and the future of this decision is subjected to agreement from other countries,” he said.
