The decomposing bodies of two Singaporeans were discovered in a homestay at Taman Taynton View, Cheras, on the evening of May 16.

According to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the bodies—a 43-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman—were found lying on a bed in one of the homestay rooms.

Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan, stated that the discovery was reported by a homestay employee at approximately 12:53 pm. The worker had attempted to open the room door but was unable to do so as it was obstructed.

“The witness opened the window and saw the two deceased lying unconscious on the bed, with a foul smell emanating from the room,” he said.

He added that the air-conditioner, television, and ceiling fan in the living room were still switched on when the witness entered.

The employee had gone to check on the couple after being unable to reach them by phone.

Aidil confirmed that a preliminary examination revealed no external injuries on the bodies and no signs of foul play, as reported by Berita Harian.

“Further inspection of the room revealed that the air-conditioner had been wrapped in blue plastic garbage bags, and the windows were sealed with the same material,” he said.

Investigators also found a grill containing burnt charcoal residue and a plate with ketamine in the room.

The homestay did not have any closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed. The bodies have been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
