Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, the operator of Rapid KL bus transport services and MRT feeder buses has announced that a trial bus lane project will be launched on Jalan Klang Lama in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) starting this 15 August.
In a statement, Rapid Bus elaborated that this is the 3rd bus lane project in collaboration with DBKL in Kuala Lumpur and will involve a 6.37km long route.
Trial bus lane project at Jalan Klang Lama
Rapid Bus added that the bus lane will start from Jalan Puchong to Jalan Klang Lama Off Jalan Halimahton, with the project expected to help reduce travel time and traffic congestion in the area involved.
The bus operator touted that travel time of up to 10 minutes from Kinrara to the city centre could be saved with this new bus lane.
Rapid Bus CEO Muhammad Yazurin Sallij asserted that since the implementation of bus lanes in the Jalan Ampang and Jalan Genting Kelang corridors in 2023, Rapid Bus has recorded an increase in passengers of 27 and 42% respectively.
He also hoped that the benefits of smooth service and time-saving will continue to attract the public’s interest in switching to bus transport.
The trial project involves 42 buses from 6 routes
As for the new bus lane trial project at Jalan Klang Lama, it will be operating during peak hours from 6am to 9am every day, except for the weekend and public holidays.
It will benefit the community of residents around Puchong, Sri Manja, Taman Kinrara, Taman Desa, Taman OUG and Jalan Kuchai Lama involving 42 buses from 6 routes, namely:
- 600: Hab Puchong Utama – Hab Pasar Seni
- 640: Hab Seri Manja – Hab Pasar Seni
- 650: Taman Desa – Hab Pasar Seni
- 641: Pearl Point – LRT Subang Jaya
- 651: Pearl Point – LRT Muhibbah
- 652: Batu 3 Jalan Klang Lama,BHP–LRT Awan Besar
