Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) took action by confiscating electric scooters that had been left in public spaces and obstructing pathways around the city.

In a Facebook post shared by DBKL, it was revealed that the confiscation was carried out by the Enforcement Department, following regulations under the Streets, Drains, and Buildings Act 1974.

A total of 384 scooters were confiscated

DBKL assured the public that they will keep taking action and regularly monitor the situation to ensure the safety and convenience of city residents, visitors, and tourists.

The post’s caption stated,

“We carried out a special operation involving electric scooters left in public spaces around Kuala Lumpur. As a result of the operation, a total of 384 scooters were immediately confiscated under the Streets, Drains, and Buildings Act 1974.”

“We will continue to monitor periodically”

According to Berita Harian, DBKL also mentioned that they issued 5 notices under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Small Traders Licensing (WPKL) 2016 By-Laws.

They also carried out 5 seizures during a special operation on Tuesday (December 10).

The operation was done by the Enforcement Department along with the Licensing and Business Development Department and the Cheras Branch Office, targeting violations like operating without a business license and foreign vendors in the Cheras area.

“All seized items were taken to the Seized Goods Storage at Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja Cheras, for recording and documentation. Actions and monitoring will continue periodically at identified hotspot locations,” they wrote in the post.
