A reader who reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ had recently taken the StarMart Express bus from Singapore to Melaka with her boyfriend last week (28th September) and was met with an unpleasant experience during the trip.
According to the reader, their bus had bedbugs all over the seats, causing her and her boyfriend to suffer irritated and bumpy skin after a while.
Unfortunately, this is not the first case involving this particular bus company, as two previous cases of bedbugs being found on buses under this company surfaced in 2016 and 2017 respectively. In the 2016 case, 26 passengers suffered bedbug bites during their journey from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Just months later, another case of bedbugs was reported on a bus under the same company, which was travelling from KL to Johor Bahru.
“This is complete negligence to passenger’s basic needs. Just saying that no one contacted them despite all the allegations is ridiculous. As a company, they should reach out to affected passengers to fix the issue, like we filled up so many forms for what? I just want to make sure that they understand this isn’t an acceptable way of running a business,” the reader was quoted as saying.
WORLD OF BUZZ has contacted the bus company in question to get their comment on this incident. Stay tuned for more updates.
