And yes, there is always the risk that you’re not buying original corn from the place, which is sold at cheaper prices. In a TikTok post by @haniffeskandar, he revealed the essential tips on how to identify fake and original corn from Cameron Highlands, as shared by the corn vendor herself.
First and foremost, the original corn from Cameron should taste SWEET and appeal to many consumers, hence the expensive price.
“Original corn from Cameron are expensive, no doubt. This is how you identify the authenticity first without peeling the corn”, the aunty shared.
If you’re still in doubt, here’s how you can find out if it’s original or fake – the colour.
Corn from Cameron Highland is known as Pearl Corn (Jagung Mutiara), and the colors will reveal its authenticity. According to the aunty, Jagung Mutiara has a shiny appearance with only 2 colors – yellow & white. Not only that but the original corn from Cameron should also have bigger kernels.
Yes, it is that simple to find out if you’re being scammed with cheaper, regular corn. The sweetness, the price, and the color say it all.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Haniff said that he bought a bunch of corn from a different stall earlier at Cameron Highland, but the taste wasn’t as sweet and as good as what he had heard about. Coincidentally, he passed by the aunty’s stall and decided to settle the “corn issue” once and for all – how do you identify a fake one?
“I asked the aunty because she had samples of a fake and original one,” Haniff told WORLD OF BUZZ.
