Enrolling your child in a Chinese school, even if you don’t come from a Chinese family, has its fair share of perks! One of them is the opportunity to learn an additional language as well as the culture.
In a recent heartwarming story that’s been circulating online, SJK (C) Chi Sin took to their Facebook page to share the unexpected enrollment of a significant number of Malay students into the school.
Standard 1 class with 100% Malay students
According to reports from Sin Chew Daily, the Chinese primary school SJK (C) Chi Sin began the new year with a full Standard 1 class intake entirely of Malay students.
Principal Won Siew Knew reported that the school has 20 Malay students, making them the majority with 62 out of 66 students.
Educating children from diverse backgrounds
The school’s success lies in its teaching methods. The principal of SJK (C) Chi Sin emphasised that they recognise the diversity of languages spoken by students, prompting teachers to use special methods to help Malay students learn Chinese.
SJK (C) Chi Sin’s dedication to inclusivity and personalised learning demonstrates why it’s at the forefront of educating children from diverse backgrounds.
Looking back, the school has really come a long way. Just ten years ago, there were barely 20 students in the school. But things have changed a lot since then. Nowadays, more Malay parents are choosing to send their kids to Chinese primary schools like SJK (C) Chi Sin.
