A Chinese tourist in Malaysia recently claimed she was extorted and felt her life was threatened during an encounter with a driver who took her to her hotel.
The tourist, who was traveling with a friend, shared that she was initially quoted RM60 for a ride from KLIA Terminal 2, but was ultimately charged RM836 upon arrival at the hotel.

The incident occurred on 15 September. The tourist said she and her friend were about to take a bus from KLIA Terminal 2 when a man approached them, offering a ride to their destination for RM60. Another woman, believed to be the man’s wife, was also in the car.
However, upon reaching the hotel, the driver allegedly drove around the premises and attempted to extort 14 times the original fare from the tourists.
The driver and his wife claimed they were the ones being scammed
The tourists refused to pay the inflated fare, which angered the woman, who allegedly said:
āYou have to follow the rules of my car!ā

The tourist, who shared the incident on social media, said she and her friend were locked inside the vehicle and not allowed to leave, causing them to feel terrified and as though their lives were in danger.
āWe were stranded in an unfamiliar city and tried calling the police, but couldnāt get through. The woman pretended to speak to the hotel front desk while we were still in the car, so we had no choice but to scream for help.ā
The tourists managed to escape when a hotel employee opened the car door. The woman then accused them of scamming her and claimed they had stolen her mobile phones.
āWe asked the hotel staff to call the police, but they suggested we pay a small amount to avoid trouble. So, we checked in first. During this time, the driverās wife slapped our friend three times.ā

The tourist also claimed that a brave man stepped in to help, but was physically assaulted by the driver. The couple later fled the scene when the tourists called the police, according to China Press.
