With Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng presenting Budget 2019 in Parliament, a number of the government’s plans for the country are currently being unveiled.

When announcing the budget for transportation, the Finance Minister stated that travellers will soon be taxed for overseas flights. According to his announcement, for passengers flying to ASEAN countries, the government will impose a tax of RM20 while those flying to other countries will be taxed RM40. This tax will be implemented on 1st June 2019.

Meanwhile, Lim Guan Eng also addressed the highly anticipated monthly pass for public transport users. It was announced that RM240 million has been allocated for this RM100 monthly pass that will allow unlimited travel for all rail and bus services.
