If you get into taxis, chances are the drivers might strike up a conversation with you to kill boredom. Some might ask about your job and your life, others might take the opportunity to share with you what they did when they were younger.
But the conversations are different with a British TikToker and vlogger, Pat who runs a channel on social media, known as Veggies on Tour with his Italian partner, Giulia. Pat claims that every time he gets into a taxi in Malaysia, the drivers can’t help but associate him with football clubs from England after finding out where he’s from.
That’s like stereotyping an actor to a specific genre but Pat appears to be fine being associated with the football clubs and players.
“Oh, England! Premier League, Harry Kane, Liverpool, Manchester United!” Pat imitated the taxi drivers and chuckled.
Pat then continued and said,
“I swear, the taxi drivers in Malaysia are Premier League’s fans.”
If you’re a follower of the couple, you might be aware that they have been in Malaysia for a long time where they spent their time vlogging their journey of looking for the best local food. Since this is the “season of football matches”, it makes sense for taxi drivers to immediately speak about football whenever the British TikToker reveals his country of origin.
To those who are not familiar with Premier League, is the highest level of the men’s English football league system.
If there are Malaysians, there is a talk about football
At the time of writing, his video has gained more than 35,000 likes, and many Malaysians took the opportunity to tell him that football talk is a culture here. Not only that but some also told him that Malaysians just love to chit-chat about random things in general.
